Preview: God’s expectation of His people is that we follow Christ’s example of perfection so that we, in turn, can be an example to all those around us.


Scripture Reading: Romans 12:1-8.

Memory Verse: Romans 12:9.

1. Discuss God’s requirements for His Church as recorded in the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse.
2. What else are God’s people required to do? Romans 12:10-21.
Note: All these things can be accomplished by presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice to the Lord.
3. Did the Old Testament teach perfection? I Kings 8:61.
4. Did David approve of perfection? Psalm 101:2.
5. How is an attitude of perfection made possible? Romans 13:1 & Romans 13:14.
Note: We cannot do God’s will without subjecting our will to God’s through love and godly fear.
6. What advice did Paul give the Church at Corinth? II Corinthians 6:11-18 & II Corinthians 7:1.
7. What were Paul’s parting words to the Corinthians? II Corinthians 13:11.
8. Do faith and unity come before perfection? Ephesians 4:13.
9. How should we live in the midst of sin? Philippians 2:15.
10. Why must the Gospel be preached? Colossians 1:25-28 & Ephesians 4:11-15.
Note: No man can be perfect without a perfect knowledge and wisdom. That was Paul’s desire that every man be taught the wisdom of God and secondly that every man might be presented perfect in Christ Jesus.
11. Did Paul find those that were teaching that still needed to be taught themselves? Hebrews 5:12-14.
12. What should those that are babes in the knowledge of Christ be fed? Hebrews 5:13.
13. What principal doctrine should those that have accepted Christ leave off? Hebrews 6:1-3.
Note: We are to leave the doctrines of repentance, the doctrine of baptism, the doctrine of laying on of hands. If we have repented, why repent again? If we have been baptized, why be baptized for the remission of sin? If we have put on Christ, we should live with Christ and for Christ.
14. Was Noah a perfect man? Genesis 6:8-9.
15. Was Job a perfect man? Job 1:1 & Job 1:8.
16. Was Nathanael a perfect man? John 1:47.
17. Who only may be a perfect man? I John 2:5.
18. Has God called His people to perfection? Deuteronomy 18:13-14 & Matthew 5:44-48.
19. Why was it necessary for Jesus to be made perfect through suffering? Hebrews 2:10, Hebrews 5:5 & Hebrews 5:7-9.
20. How are we made perfect? Hebrews 13:20-21, James 1:3-4, James 3:2 & Colossians 3:14.
Note: Christ was our example in all things including perfection through suffering, therefore, only Christ in us can make us perfect in words, deeds, and love.
21. Will those in Christ sin? I John 3:6.
22. Did the 144,000 commit sin after accepting Christ? Revelation 14:3-5.
