Preview: “Fountains” refer to people who distribute the Word and keep the water (or Word) flowing so that they can learn how to have life everlasting. The “water of life” is referring to the Word of Christ whereby we are saved. This is the first of a two-part lesson on this subject.

Scripture Reading: John 4:1-15.

Memory Verse: John 4:14.

1. How did the woman of Samaria learn there was water other than that in wells and springs? John 4:10.
2. What was the difference between the water in Jacob’s well and the water Jesus had to offer? John 4:13-14.
3. What did Jesus promise to those who believe in Him? John 6:35.
4. What did Jesus offer mankind on the day of the feast? John 7:37.
5. To whom is the water of life available? Revelation 22:17.
6. How much does it cost to get a drink of living water? Revelation 21:6.
Note: Every true Christian can confirm this statement, “The things with the highest value are the things available without cost.”
7. Why do you think it is possible for men on earth to help Jesus distribute the water of life? John 7:38-39 & I Corinthians 3:8-10.
8. Did the Apostle Paul understand that the water of life flowed through mankind? What is its significance? I Corinthians 3:5-9.
Note: The above Scriptures help us to see that God expects us to be fountains of living water. In view of this fact, it would be wise for each of us to ask ourselves this question, “What kind of fountain am I?” In making a determination, let us remember that there are strong, weak, pure and corrupt fountains.
9. How does the Lord look upon His people? Is a good fountain determined by a person’s outward appearance only, or by something else? I Samuel 16:7 & Matthew 23:27-28.
10. What is the water of life dependent on? Discuss. Isaiah 29:13.
11. How can we judge the intent of man? Matthew 7:15-20.
