Preview: The story of Moses and his father-in-law is used to highlight the qualities of leadership.

Scripture Reading: Exodus 18:1-27.

Memory Verse: I Corinthians 14:33.

1. What was the purpose of Jethro’s visit to his son-in-law Moses? Exodus 18:1-7.
2. Did Jethro rejoice in the victory God had given Moses and the children of Israel over Pharaoh? Exodus 18:9-12.
3. What did Jethro observe about Moses’ leadership? Exodus 18:13-16.
4. What advice did Jethro give Moses concerning his leadership? Exodus 18:17-22.
5. How did Moses respond to his father-in-law’s advice? Exodus 18:24-26.
Note: When there is good, proper God-given management two things will result: 1. Leaders will not wear out so easily. 2. Harmony will prevail among those he is leading. A good leader is strong and determined, yet gracious and godly. Forerunner/Leader- The position at the front; to pilot, show or point the way, protect, guard, watch over, discover the way through, be responsible for. Procrastinator/Lagger- One that is slack, falling behind, has no pace or foresight, to tarry.
